Smart pre-payment meters will implement in the DESCO area of the capital. By 2020, two lakh subscribers of the capital will receive this kind of meter. Reduce the power abuse (system loss). Projects worth Tk 186.5 crore have been taken for this.
Today, the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has passed the Smart Prepayment Meter Supply and Settlement Project in the DESCO area. The meeting was held at the NEC conference room of Planning Commission of the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Agargaon. The Prime Minister and Ecnec Chairperson Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting.
Electricity Division Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO) project will be implemented by December 2020. The areas where Prepayment meters will be installed are Mirpur, Pallabi, Agargaon, Kafrul, Shah Ali, Dhaka Cantonment, Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, Badda, Uttara, Uttarkhan and Dakshinkhan and Tongi thanas of Gazipur district. Under this project, 100,000 single phase and 20 thousand three-phase smart premier meters will be provided.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said, system loss will decrease if the pre-payment meter is settled. Months will be deducted in monthly installments from the subscribers for the meter.
In today’s ECNEC meeting, a total of 11 projects including the project were passed. The total cost will be 6 thousand 448 crore taka Of this, government financing Tk 6,440 crore The project implementing agency will give TK 8 crore taka.
Projects approved in the ECNEC meeting are: Land Acquisition (Araihazar of Narayanganj and Mirsharai of Chittagong) for setting up an economic zone of Taka 3,196 crore; Establishment of 5 training centers, 1 fashion institute and 2 market promotion centers in 5 Basic centers under Bangladesh Haute Bank for 117 crore; Tk 178.58 crore in Pirganj Rangpur. Establishment of M Wazed Mia Textile Engineering College; Construction and rebuilding of government children’s families and small-town dwellings of Tk 297 crore; Construction of the primary infrastructure of Hi-Tech Park in Sylhet; Preservation and dredging of the right bank of Padma river in Charabhadasan upazila of Faridpur district of 292 crore; 169 crore from Sonapur; 144 crore taka Birganj-Khansama-Dharwani, Khansama-Ranirbandar and Chirirbandar-Amtali Bazar District Highway to be promoted to the appropriate standards and amplification;
