Microbus Gas-Cylinder Blast Kills 3 People and Another Four Were Injured in Tangail

Three people died and another four, including three policemen, were injured in a microbus gas cylinder blast in Kumudini College intersection in Tangail town early Tuesday.

A teenage girl who was just rescued from abductors by the police hours earlier was among the dead.

The deceased are Jannatul Ferdous Bonna, 19, her maternal uncle Sirajul Islam, 60, and her cousin Faruk Hossain, 42.

Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Tangail Model police station, a gas-cylinder of the microbus exploded in the Kumudini College area around 4:00 am when the victims were returning from Rajshahi, leaving the three dead on the spot and four others injured.

They were the residents of Narayanganj’s Bhati port area under the Sonargaon Police Station.

The injured — Assistant Sub-Inspector Tanvir, 33, Assistant Sub-Inspector Habib, 30, Constable Azhar, 45, and microbus driver Aktar, 35. The injured were admitted to Tangail General Hospital, the OC added.

A police team from the Sonargaon Police Station went to Rajshahi’s Bagmara to rescue a kidnapped teenage girl and relatives of the girl were also with them, said Rahman.

On their way back, he said, the microbus gas cylinder exploded setting the vehicle ablaze.
